Contraband Bayou Review

The following is a quick summary of what I thought about the Contraband Bayou Golf Club at L’Auberge.

The course is located on the grounds of the L’Auberge Casino Resort, in Lake Charles , LA.

It is called Contraband Bayou because it overlooks the Contraband Bayou.

According to the website, the course has been voted, by Golfweek Magazine from 2010
thru 2014, as one of the Best Places to Play in Louisiana.

It was designed by world-renowned golf architect, Tom Fazio.

If you’ve ever played a Fazio golf course you are aware of his layouts which are designed
to look more difficult than they usually are.

This always makes playing a Fazio course an enjoyable experience.

Contraband Bayou has plenty of lovely natural plant life and plenty of aquatic features,
including alligators.

It can be a little unnerving, if you have never played a course with alligators.

However, according to the staff they will not bother you provided that you don’t infringe
upon their territory.

The course has eight lakes and you will find that a few of them have rather large gators in them.

The course consists of 18 championship holes of golf, a pro shop, which has pretty much
anything a golfing enthusiast may need, a driving range, and short game practice area.

The course is 7,077 yards par 71 from the back tees; there are four sets of tee boxes
which provide a challenge for all skill levels.

The staff members were all professional and polite as well as welcoming.

The entire golf course is without question in supreme condition, not a blade of grass out of place.

The putting surfaces were extremely smooth and a joy to putt.

The course features a par 5 that is over 600 yards from the back tee.

The course layout was typical Fazio and I enjoyed the design.

Overall, it was a fantastic and wonderful experience.

In summary, the course was in excellent condition with top quality fairways and magnificent greens.

The layout along the bayou was outstanding along with great views of the main resort property and surrounding area.

The staff was very welcoming and friendly.

Lots of wonderful holes along the water. Must play!!!

I will most definitely play it again.

I strongly recommend this course if you happen to be in the area or taking a vacation.

Have A Great Round!

Until Next Time,

Guy
